Texas retailers take a step forward with curbside service

Starting today nonessential retailers in Texas are able to offer curbside pick up.

Dallas' upscale mall, NorthPark shopping center, there are 16 retailers who are taking part in the retail-to-go programs. Among the stores taking part are the major anchors, Dillard's, Macy's, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, and some of the smaller tenants are Saint Laurent, David Yurman and Williams Sonoma. Interestingly six of the malls restaurants have been offering curbside pick up for most of the shutdown.

In other areas of the state, malls and shopping centers are positioning themselves to tackle the virus. In Houston both Memorial City Mall and Rice Village are taking the required measures to meet federal and state guidelines to provide a safe environment for customers and employees.

“Our stores are all committed to following all the guidance and requirements for six-[foot] social distancing, face coverings, hand washing and sanitizing, and contactless curbside pickup,” AJ Coffee, senior general manager at Rice Village Management Co.

South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida have announced that business as well as recreational closures and social gatherings will ease within the upcoming week. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said he advise on more business openings on Monday.
